Welcome

Are you searching for a deeper understanding of life? Are you ready to find where you fit in the big picture? Are you looking to be part of a community? Evangelical United Methodist Church is the place for you to discover answers to these questions and many more.

At EUM we believe that God has placed you on this earth for a purpose, to be part of a community, and to be in a relationship with Him. We believe that the Scriptures contain ageless truth about a living Savior that we are to share in a contemporary world.

We invite you to join us in dreaming God's dreams for the future of EUM as we continue "to bring others into a personal and dynamic relationship with Jesus Christ and equip and mobilize God's people for ministry."

A Word from Our Pastor:

Have you ever been afraid? Does life ever seem to come upon you like a fast moving storm? Does the constant bombardment of fear from the nation’s talking heads have you restless and uneasy?

In Matthew 8:23-27, we read that, “without warning, a furious storm” comes upon the disciples and Jesus as they are crossing the Sea of Galilee. The disciples awoke Jesus, who was asleep in the boat, shouting, “Lord save
us! We are going to drown!” Jesus replies “…why are you so afraid?”

That is the question which we are wrestling with together as we study fear. Max Lucado reminds us that Matthew uses the word seismos for storm – the word we use for earthquake. Matthew uses this term only three times in his gospel: to articulate the shake-up of sin when Jesus died on the Cross, to discuss the shake-up of death when Jesus arose from the dead, and to pronounce the shake-up of fear as we grow in God’s command – Fear not, for I am with you.

Fear is supposed to be self-correcting. It is supposed to motivate us to take action so the problem is corrected. The scriptures tell us that we begin that corrective process by drawing near to God. I want to invite you to join us this summer as we draw near to God and deal with our fears related to parenting, dying and in finding purpose in our life.

See you in church on Sunday,
Pastor Creighton
